What is a Vertical Ladder for a Bunk Bed?

A vertical ladder is a ladder that attaches to a bunk bed vertically and commonly hooks to the upper and lower side rails.

Advantages of Vertical Ladder:

Vertical ladders tend to occupy less space in a bedroom.  In addition, this style of ladders does not hinder the function of the under bed drawers or the pull-out trundle bed. Check image below.

Disadvantages:

Younger kids might not be tall enough to climb this type of ladder.

Slanted Ladder:

Conclusion:

If space is not an issue in a bedroom and an under bed drawer or trundle are not ordered than a slanted ladder is recommended.

If under bed drawers or trundle bed are to be used than a short vertical ladder is recommended when offered by manufacturer.
